East Coast: a brief note on the studio location

Why we picked 77 Upper East Coast Road, what 1,600 square feet of natural light buys us, and when the door opens.

Strength Studio opens at 77 Upper East Coast Road, #01-03, in August 2026. Here's the short version of why we chose this address and this neighbourhood.

Why we chose East Coast

Most premium training studios in Singapore cluster around the CBD or Orchard. We picked East Coast deliberately. Three reasons:

  • Residential density meets training demand. The East Coast catchment is dense with the exact demographic we serve — adults in their 40s, 50s, and 60s training around busy careers, injury histories, and longevity goals. Most of them currently drive into town for studio sessions and back out for everything else. We wanted to remove that hour.
  • Light, space, and the actual feel of the building. 77 @ East Coast is a low-density address with real natural light, full-height windows, and ceilings that don't feel like a basement gym. We trialled six locations. This one was the only one we walked into and immediately could see members in.
  • Proximity to the park. A short walk to East Coast Park means our outdoor programming — loaded carries, sled work, recovery walks — is built into the neighbourhood, not bolted on.

What 1,600 square feet buys

Strength training doesn't need a warehouse. It needs the right equipment for what we actually do:

  • Half Rack — squat, bench, pull-up, and barbell work in one footprint
  • Dumbbells, 2–20 kg — full range for accessory work, rehab progressions, and warm-up loading
  • Dual Adjustable Pulley — cable rows, face pulls, pallof presses, tricep work. The most versatile piece on the floor
  • Lat Pull / Low Row — dedicated back station for vertical and horizontal pulls
  • Seated Leg Press — heavy lower-body loading without spinal compression
  • Seated Leg Curl / Leg Extension — isolated knee flexion and extension for rehab and hypertrophy
  • Dual Abdominal / Lower Back — core and posterior chain work on a single machine
  • Treadmill and Recumbent Bike — warm-up, conditioning, and active recovery
  • Dedicated mobility and assessment area, separate from the lifting floor
  • A physio room — private, properly equipped, walking distance from the lifting floor when you need both in one visit
